Promises

I want to share one of my favorite songs with you today.
The ultimate promise in God’s word, for me, is the promise that Jesus has gone to prepare a home for me where He dwells. In the Father’s house is many mansions. Now the point isn’t that we’re having a mansion, it’s that we get to live forever with Jesus.
The ultimate promise. I’m counting on that promise.
I especially like the verse that says “bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord”. I daily draw closer to Christ because I love Him. Love is a pretty strong cord. I want to be nearer to Him. Love births desire. I desire more of Christ.

Standing on the promises of Christ my king,
through eternal ages let his praises ring;
glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,

Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
when the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
by the living Word of God I shall prevail,
standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
bound to him eternally by love’s strong cord,
overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword,
standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises I cannot fall,
listening every moment to the Spirit’s call,
resting in my Savior as my all in all,
