Life is an amazing thing. Truthfully, it’s awe inspiring.
How does the heart beat? How does the eye see? How does the brain operate?
I don’t have degrees in anatomy or whatever other science degree there is that deals with the functions of the body.
All I know is that I’m amazed by it all and I want my brain, eyes, heart and other organs to be completely healthy.
In the course of life, however, sometimes we run into obstacles.
I’ve run into a few things during my life.
When I was around 7 years old, we were playing tag outside at night.
There were a few kids there that I didn’t know.
One of those kids (my age) was a BEAST. Probably about 110 pounds.
While we were playing freeze tag, I was running from the “tagger”.
I was in full gallop, apparently Beast was too. Somehow our paths met.
I don’t remember anything after the meeting.
All I know is I woke up about 10 minutes later face down on the ground with people gathered around me mentioning the possibility of ambulatory assistance to the nearest hospital, which scared the pewaddledoo out of me. I had a dull headache and a MASSIVE knot on my noggin.
It hurt. A lot.
I was escorted inside and someone put scoops of ice into a ziplock bag with paper towels wrapped around it.
I held that baggy on my knot for several hours.
I didn’t run around anymore that night. I was finished.
After smashing into a human concrete pillar, just sitting on a cold hard metal chair was more than enough fun for me at the moment.
By the weekend, the pain subsided, the swelling deflated, and I was good as gold.
You know, Life can be that way sometimes.
We’re running full gallop and thinking we’re cleared for takeoff…when all of the sudden, there’s a collision.
You get knocked down and there’s some swelling and pain.
You learn that you never want to play freeze tag in the dark again.
Eventually the pain subsides, the swelling goes away, and you’re back up and at it again.
Sometimes it hurts, but that’s just a part of life.
Keep getting back up. Keep going.
To the Hurting,
– Caleb
