Sometimes in life we start feeling hopeless
In the fight of life we sense the strain
Wondering what becomes of us tomorrow
While life is going against the grain

Endurance forfeits it’s lease upon us
And when we have reached the final straw
Nothing left within our grasp to spare us
All we really want is to withdraw

When this mindset seeks to overtake us
And our faith and courage needs renewed
There is but one guaranteed solution
There is something that we all must do

Dash our dreams upon the rocky ledges
Cast our rope of safety o’er the rail
Set our hopes within the cloudy anchor
Of the One Who commands the gale.

Release all caution that’s stored within us
Set our sails to catch the howling wind
Or lose our ship to cliffs of compromise
A broken ship that we cannot mend

The dangerous outcroppings of complacence
Threaten every worn out seeker
Drifting closer to the rocky shoreline
While God calls us to oceans deeper

Place your feeble courage upon the Lord
Toss your lacking knowledge to the side
Thrust out your ship into deeper waters
Where only God calms the swelling tide

Swelling tides of uncertainty and doubt
Wash over the vessels bow and stern
Cascading rain onto the hopeful’s face
It’s through such trials that we must learn

How to trust the hand of Omnipotence
And to leave behind the comforts dear
To sail away into unknown waters
With only His Holy presence near.
