From Flowering to Fruitful

The common blackberry. ☝🏻

You know what’s interesting?

On these blackberry bushes and the apples trees that we’re growing (and other plants as well) the beautiful flower petals have to wilt away and die in order for the fruit to grow.

Why? I have no idea. It just happens that way.
The tree buds, blossoms, the flowers disappear, then it bears fruit.

What is it in your life, something you think is a beautiful flower, that seems to be wilting away to be no more? Have you agonized over it? Tried to hold on to it?

What if there’s some fruit on the way?

What if the beautiful fragrance of the flower has to disappear before the sweet, satisfying taste of the fruit can be evident in your life?

Flowers don’t do much for me.
Fruit, on the other hand, is much more beneficial.
The flower has to go before the fruit can arrive. And what a good trade that is.

The flower isn’t the fulfillment of the plant. The fruit is.
Although, the flower is beautiful, it isn’t the main purpose. What the plant is known for is the fruit.

Don’t mourn the fading of the flower,
celebrate the fruit of the future.

Sometimes we just have to let things go in order to receive something better.

to the fruitful,
– Caleb
