Raised to Life Again

The pit that I found myself in
Taken down by the weight of sin.
Taken down without much fight
Taken down into the night.

Darkness envelops the soul entirely
Suffocates the breath without enquiry

Takes no names and does not care
Who it takes into its lair
Once within, the trap is set
I was caught within its net

My reality becoming dross
From this black pit, I see the cross
The Christ of glory hangs thereon
Bruised and bleeding from my wrong

I avert my eyes from such cruelty
My Ears are deaf to His cry of agony
My Heart, indifferent to His plea
All the while He’s suffering for me.

My Lips had scourged His name
My Hands had caused Him shame
My Feet had trod His precious blood
I searched within and found no good.

But there is a master plan
That at the dawn of time began
One to save the lost soul sinking
To Pick him up, his burdens lifting.

Mercy heard my desperate call
His Abundant grace broke my fall
And now aware of His gentle voice
He recommends, “Make Me your choice!”

The God of Heaven so Divine
Yet reaches out His hands to mine
Hands of healing that once knew pain
He raises me to life again!

to those going down for the last time,
– Caleb
