Myself

I thought I might be someone famous
And I might sail the seven seas
But all that happened was
I grew up to be me.

A little boy in the woods
I fought some bloody wars
Protecting all the goods
Inside the treehouse fort

It was mediocrity at best
Nothing more than that
Cards close to the vest
Afraid to swing the bat

But I thought I might be someone famous
And I might sail the seven seas
But all that happened was
I grew up to be me.

Uncertain of all of the changes
That I, reluctant, chose to make
Then going through the stages
Of my life without a break

I didn’t make a lot of money
I didn’t own a fancy home
Or revolutionize a country
I spent most of my time alone

But I thought I might be someone famous
And I might sail the seven seas
But all that happened was
I grew up to be me.

you are more than you think you are,
