It is growing season right now. We have tomatoes and jalapeños in our little raised garden bed. We don’t have room for anything else. There are a couple of watermelon plants growing a few feet away near the fence.
At my parents house we have two apple trees. They are loaded down with apples. We have sprayed and watered and fertilized. Spring sprung and the apple blossoms sprang along with it. Now the little buds are growing into what we hope will be scrumptious apples this autumn.
Patience is the key to growing your own food. Our little fellas seem to want to harvest fruit that isn’t ready.
One must always remember that in order to have good fruit, the fruit has to grow into something worth eating. If you want edible fruit at harvest, the fruit has to stay on the tree until it’s ready.
Some things just take time. You can’t hurry them. Fruit takes awhile to grow.
First, a tree has to flower. Then the flower has to die.
After that, a bud forms. We’re talking months of waiting.
Good things take time.
You don’t want to bite into an apple thirty days into growing season.
Early summer is not prime apple picking season.
Give it some time.
Fertilize and water the tree. Spray it down to keep the pests away.
A tree can be attacked by any number of issues. Deer. Worms. Leaf curl. Rust.
It’s important to guard against all these things. Otherwise, no fruit at the end of the season.
How does this apply to you? Glad you asked.
During your time of growth, there are certain things you have to guard against.
Guard against bitterness and malice. Hatred and envy.
Do not let these things into your heart and mind.
They’ll inflict damages that take a long time repair. It’s better to spend energy being on guard than to spend energy trying to heal.
During growing season, things can seem to be slow. It might appear that nothing is happening.
It can be tempting to want to pack up and move. Go somewhere else just to shake things up a bit.
It’s during this time when it’s most important to just stay where you are.
If I were to transplant my apple trees right now, or harvest the fruit midsummer, I would lose all of the hard work I’ve put into them. If you harvest fruit too soon, it is not edible. And it will rot before it has the chance to ripen. The trees might die during the transplanting process.
Sometimes, what is best to do is what is hardest to do.
Stay and sink your roots down deep. Get settled. Keep everything where it is. Don’t harvest the fruit before it’s time. Let it grow. Patience will solve a lot of problems.
If you can’t seem to settle down any particular place and aren’t quite where you want to be in life…
Just give it time.
Keep growing and edging toward your full potential. Study and ensure you’re taking in all the knowledge you can. Grow in every area possible. Volunteer. Work hard and applaud those who succeed.
Do as good as you can in every area of your life.
Take in life’s vital nutrients for success.
Always keep an open heart. Not so you can be easily hurt, but so you can easily love those who need it.
Always keep an open mind. Not to be brain-washed into thinking anything, but so that you can realize not every thought is a good one. Some thoughts need to escape our thinking.
Don’t always believe everything you think. You are susceptible to error.
You might want to run your ideas by someone with more wisdom and experience before you act on them.
Most of all, remember that your day will come. Like the shining of the sun.
All things will be like new, you will know what you were made to do.
to those who aren’t sure yet, (myself included)
