The Good

Something good is happening today, even right at this very second.

Yeah, you’re right. There are a lot of bad things happening, too.

But for a brief moment, let’s think about the good, not the evil.

Did you know that a man proposed to his girlfriend last night? And another man will tonight, too.

Someone found out that they overcame their bout with cancer today? They are about to ring the bell.

Did you know that a little boy is learning to play the piano? He’s on his way to the lesson.

A little girl is learning to stand on her toes. She got her ballerina shoes from Amazon yesterday.

Another little boy has a guitar he got for Christmas. He’s trying to stretch his tiny fingers across the fretboard to play the “C” chord. He’ll learn the mandolin in a couple of years. He’ll be a future Ricky Skaggs.

There’s another girl who took up karate. She wants to let a little boy on the playground know she can kick his head if he’s mean to her again. They’ll probably get married after college.

A wife just announced to her husband that she’s pregnant. He just collapsed. With joy, obviously. They’re about to call the new grandparents and let them know!

A husband is telling his wife he’s sorry. There’s no tension in the house now. She’s crying.

Somebody just applied for an internship, and they will get it. Somebody just filled out an application for grants to pay for college, which will be a significant consolation to them.

Somebody just released a New York Times best-selling book. They don’t know it yet.

Couples are celebrating their wedding anniversary today. 5, 23, 47 years.

Somebody just told their significant other, parents, sibling, or grandparents that they love them.

Somebody just saved a fellow human being’s life.

A lady just gave her waiter a 50% tip because she felt a nudge to do it.

Another lady is out walking her dog and listening to the sounds of the city around her.

A young couple just closed on their first home.

Somebody got caught up with their assigned reading for their college classes.

A few minutes ago, a young man stood up for his middle school classmate, and the bully walked away. They’re going to be friends for life.

The list of good things goes on. But it’s too much to fit in this post.

Are they on national news? No.

But they’re real, and they’re happening.

to those who are aware of the good,
– Caleb
