The Lessons

Lessons I’ve learned in my life:

1. One of the most important things you do in this life is to keep your nose out of other people’s business.

If it isn’t your business, stay out of it.

The water gets muddy enough with everybody trampling around in it. Two extra feet won’t help clear it up.

Just stay out of it.

You can be supportive, and you can pray, you can love, and you can comfort, but if it doesn’t pertain directly to you, stay out of it.

2. If no one ever comes to you for advice, there’s a good reason. You may not want to start spewing advice willy-nilly.

3. If someone comes to you for advice, don’t let it go to your head. They probably ask everyone they meet how to open an automatic sliding glass door.

4. Those who always question rules and guidelines are probably looking for a loophole.

5. Those who gossip about others will talk about you. Be careful what you say to those people.
And if they feel comfortable talking to you about others, what does that say about you?

6. If he (or she) asks you about someone, tell them you don’t know, but say that you’ll call and tell that person that he (or she) is concerned and asking about them.

7. He who hardly speaks probably has a good reason for not doing so. Not because he’s dumb, but because he’s superbly wise. He (or she) knows not to yap at the mouth too often. Anything you say can and will be used against you.

Those who are known for their oft-speaking are not as well-known for their wisdom.

8. Those who chatter excessively are people to whom we must give a wide berth.

9. I’ve asked people for advice and instantly regretted it. It was like asking a dog to meow. It was impossible to hear anything wise come from them. Learn from your mistakes.

10. Don’t believe everything you read on the internet. Or anywhere. Truth can be tainted with a half-truth and be detrimental information. Leave enough room in your mind for a change of opinion.

11. Be careful whom you allow as a mentor or role model in your life.

12. Never take sides.

13. Don’t jump to conclusions.

14. Get both sides of the story, or you don’t deserve to be involved in any way whatsoever.

15. Jesus said that secret conversations would be proclaimed from the housetop, but He didn’t put you on the roof.

16. If you are offended by this post, well, how about that?
