The Blog

I have a blog called The Caney Mountain Blog. If you’re reading this on WordPress, you already know this.
I have been posting short stories and poems on it since January 2021.

We have several businesses linked under ‘The Locals’ that are near and dear to me, like the barbecue restaurants in and around our little bitty town. There are links to all the mills, springs, and conservation areas. I believe in sharing things that bring joy to your heart, like good barbecue eateries, nature, music, and stories.

Last year, at the end of the year (literally the last day of the year, December 31st), I finished a book called “The Bottom of the Pool” that encouraged its readers to do something they had always dreamed of. Mine was writing. And so, I decided to write and post every day.

So far this year, I have received more traffic on my website than last year. Last year I had one visitor, and this year I’ve had three.

It just goes to prove: if you clear the sticks, leaves, and mud out of the way, the creek will start flowing. All I had to do was start writing and posting, and people started reading. (The sticks and mud were a reference to my apprehension and terror of posting things online. Not a fan.)

I know I’ve mentioned all of this before. I’m bringing it up now because people may not want to be bombarded with long stories on their newsfeeds.

They may want to see a link instead. Or they may rather receive an email with the post in it.

Now it doesn’t matter to me which way you read these posts, but I want people to read them. And I want to get better at writing and have more reach, so I’ll keep writing no matter what.

So if you would rather see a link, you can follow my blog’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/thecaneymountainblog

Or you can go to the Subscribe tab on the website and enter your email address. This will ensure that every blog post will go to your inbox. http://www.caneymountainblog.com

And now a word from Son #2:
“““““11112w2rrww3ww2wweeeeeee55.

Okay, it’s me again.

So, no pressure either way. But if you feel led, that’s one of many options. I’ve had 48 new followers on the blog this year and tens of thousands reading on Facebook (at least that’s what FaceBook tells me). And it’s blown my mind. I can’t believe people want to read these things.

So thank you again for taking the time to read, comment, like, share, and laugh with me. I’m so grateful this didn’t fall completely flat on its face.

to you,
– Caleb
