Crocheting fascinates me. The ins and outs and back and forths of a needle-like hook and the handiwork involved are on par with solving complex mathematical equations, in my opinion.
Years ago, my grandpa’s wife made a crocheted blanket for us for Christmas. It seemed five feet long and four feet wide, but I don’t know the exact measurements. Centered directly in the middle was a heart. I had a hard time believing she made it. I asked her, “Are you sure you didn’t buy this from the store?” She insisted she made it by hand. I was in awe.
Oh, hang on a second. Son #2 is coming over here to the recliner. Let’s hear what he has to say:

All right, that was short and sweet.
As I was saying, I couldn’t believe that a machine didn’t make that blanket. A lot of time and work went into it. And we can’t forget the skills.
And the patience. Can you imagine sitting in one spot for hours and making the same motions 467,935 times? Let’s not forget dedication.
I’m amazed how working thread into thousands of knots creates something so beautiful. Crocheted things make your home feel a little more cozy than it would without them.
I don’t know if it’s the yarn in all its fuzziness that helps to soften a room or if it’s the fact that it’s an age-old art form kept alive from generations past by those who care about having a home with heart.
A lady from our church made baby blankets for our children and gave them as gifts at each baby shower. They are incredible treasures that we will have for all time. By the way, she has an Etsy store, Instagram, and Facebook. Her handle is @alongthedirtroad. But most of you probably already follow her. She crochets home decor as well. Talented? Sure. Gifted? Absolutely.
Whether it’s a blanket, a dish rag, a coaster, or a garland, you can’t go wrong with something crocheted. It makes a home feel cozy and more inviting.
to the yarn enthusiasts,

Sadly I haven’t mastered crotchet – but I do knit, a bit!

I’m sad to say that I’m not aware of the difference between crocheting and knitting! I need to look it up. I know they are two separate things, but I couldn’t explain it if anyone asked me. 😅
