I remember the joys of autumn I experienced as a child.
One particular memory I have is my Grandma Driscoll taking me around town to experience the glories of Fall displayed on the trees around town.
We would ride in that gray Oldsmobile Cutlass with the burgundy interior and ooh and awe at the bright colors.
It’s one of my favorite memories.
Another memory is of the time Dad woke my brother and me up at the crack of dawn one October morning.
Throughout the day, we meandered the back roads of rural South Central Missouri, visiting different highlights of the area.
One such place was Hodgson Mill. There was a store in it at that time, and the elderly lady working there gave us hot apple cider. The warmth of the cider hit the spot on that chilly morning.
Other memories come to mind of raking leaves and then scattering them all over the yard again by jumping into them. It was a miracle that we never poked our eyes out with all the twigs we raked up with the leaves.
I’m excited to make those kinds of memories with my children. One day, they’ll look back and, hopefully, remember our time together with fondness.
to those who already have their fall decor up,
