The Christmas season brings so many opportunities to find joy.
I understand that some find this time of year to be a sad time because of losing family or friends close to the holidays, or maybe they have never had anyone to share this time of year with. Or maybe they just don’t like presents.
Twelve years ago, my Grandma and I attended a concert at our local civic center. A brass band was playing, and it was a wonderful experience. The musical performance would have been good had I been alone, but the fact that I was with family made it even more special.
But when you attend a Christmas concert where they are singing about being with Grandparents, children, and grandchildren, and you’re there alone and don’t have much family around to enjoy the holidays with, I can understand where it would make someone sad.
Oh, there’s no place like home for the holidays. But a home usually houses a family. And when there’s no family, home doesn’t have the same kind of feeling to it. And sometimes, there is a family, but it isn’t one to be happy about coming home to.
But my thoughts and prayers are with those who don’t have anyone to celebrate with this Christmas. I hope the silent days and nights during this Christmas season somehow find you grasping hold of peace and joy.
I want to be one who can help supply both for someone this Christmas. Maybe we can help someone feel a little less isolated.
to those sharing the love and joy of the season,
– Caleb
