The Chiropractor

A couple of months ago, I had back issues for several weeks.

No, I don’t need surgery. I do a lot of sitting down and not enough exercising. That’s what I need – more exercise.

My brother-in-law was having back pain as well. He gets a lot of exercise, though. So he had back issues from too much, and I had complications stemming from insufficient physical activity.

There has to be a balance somewhere. I need to find it.

Thanks to a local chiropractor, Dr. Eckman, I am now pain-free. He’s a good one.

I don’t even know how it all began, for sure. It could’ve started when I was lying on my stomach in the middle of our living room floor, and a son, who shall remain numberless, decided to attempt the cannonball in the middle of my lower back.

It’s probably a good thing I couldn’t get up off the floor at that point. The pain was instant and severe, and I felt like throwing something. Instead, I just moaned and groaned and screamed for him to get off of me.

Apparently, I looked like a nice, inviting swimming pool.

Thankfully, chiropractors have always been able to make everything straight again. It only takes two or three sessions, and I’m right as rain.

But two months ago, I was barely able to move. It hurt to sit down. It hurt to stand up. It hurt to be awake. And getting in and out of the car was like trying to make it snow in the Sahara. Nearly impossible.

Two months ago, we were in the state with the worst roads in the United States. And on the way home, I thought I would break in half. I would randomly cry out. Then I would start laughing at myself, which would jar my back, which would make me cry out in pain. It was quite the ride home.

The intense pain (along with the fact that we have three puking, pooping, and peeing machines in the car) enabled us to turn a four-hour car ride into seven hours.

We finally made it home, and I finally received relief.

So, at the beginning of this Thanksgiving week, I am thankful for Chiropractors and zero back pain. As well as the young people who are the reason both exist in the first place.

to anyone with children,
– Caleb
